SMS Opt-In Keywords

Users can opt into and automatically be added to, a specific group by being provided a keyword they text to the system short code.

Note: Contact Customer Success at  support@highgroundsolutions.com to set up keywords.

One thing to remember when starting is that the SMS Keywords need to be unique. For example:  ABCvolunteers (ABC represents your organizations initials) would be an appropriate keyword.

  • Groups will need to be created in your account, if those opting in are to be automatically added to a specific group.
  • From the Groups menu in the top navigation bar, click Add Groups.
  • On the Add Group screen enter the Group Name and Group Description of your choice in the fields provided. Group ID is optional.
  • Leave Custom selected as in the Group Type dropdown menu.
  • Check the Allow Users to Opt In box if users will be allowed to opt into this group themselves.
  • Leave the Add Another Group radio button filled and click the Add Group button.
  • An Opt-In Reply Message is automatically sent when the users opt in via a Keyword. The Opt-in Reply Message has a maximum of 160-character length and must include the wording,“Reply STOP to cancel. Msg & data rates may apply”. It may also contain a link to a website, a thank you for signing-up, or a custom form. High Ground Solutions can also create a custom form. Contact our Customer Success Team to learn more.

When you have your keywords, contact Customer Success Team to have them placed into your account. Make sure to give which group(s) apply to the keyword(s). For example, for ABCvolunteers, you created the group "Volunteers" and would like them placed into this group. Additionally, make sure to send the "Opt-In Reply Message" for that Keyword. For example, for the ABCvolunteers, the reply might be, "Thank you for opting in to ABC's volunteer group. Reply STOP to cancel. Msg  & Data rates may apply."
