How are message overages billed? 

If you exceed the number of SMS/Voice messages included in your plan, overage charges will apply. These charges are billed differently depending on whether you're on a Monthly or Annual plan.

Monthly Plans

Overages are billed on your next monthly invoice. Once you exceed your plan's limit, you'll see the overage reflected in your usage balance. When your next invoice is generated, the overage charges will be included.

Example:

You're on the Starter Monthly plan, which includes 500 SMS/Voice messages. In one month, you send 700 messages. Here's what happens:

Your usage balance under Account > Account Details will show:
SMS/Voice: -200 (you used 200 messages over your plan).

On your next invoice, you'll see:

Monthly Charge: $39

Overage Charge: 200 messages × $0.04 = $8

Total: $47

Annual Plans

Overages are billed in the month after they occur. Each month, your overage balance is reset after billing, and a new balance begins for the following month.

Example:

You're on the Starter Annual plan, covering January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025. The plan includes 6,000 SMS/Voice messages per year.

By July 1, you’ve sent 8,000 messages, which is 2,000 over your annual limit.

In July, you’ll receive an invoice with:

Overage Charge: 2,000 messages × $0.04 = $80

Your usage balance under Account > Account Details will show:
SMS/Voice: -2000

After the invoice, your overage balance resets, and any new overages are billed the following month.

On January 1, 202X, you’ll be billed for:

Annual Renewal: $468

Any remaining overages from December

 

Can I change my plan?

If you’re on a Monthly plan, you can update it anytime by going to Account > Manage My Plan.
Your changes will take effect on your next invoice date.

To switch from Monthly to Annual, or to make changes to an existing Annual plan, please contact our sales team at sales@highgroundsolutions.com.
